CRANE Project Stage 2 (2016-2017)
Year 4 to 5
• The Orontes Watershed collaboration will eventually be expanded to incorporate further projects in the Orontes Watershed. It will provide a
model for large scale data-based collaboration among groups of cultural heritage researchers that is not only interdisciplinary, but that
transcends any particular time period, cultural region, or subject area.
• Researchers will integrate their digital data with that of the core team to run their own simulations and visualizations.
• CRANE will continue its public outreach and will share its work through workshops and sessions at international conferences coordinated
and co-sponsored by the American Schools of Oriental Research (ASOR).
• Through CRANE, researchers can address important questions regarding human-environment interactions and their role in the origins,
development, and sustainability of complex societies in the ancient Near East at various scales on an ongoing basis.
